Canine Head Halters

A canine head halter is a humane training collar.  It is used in place of a choke collar,  electric collar, and prong collar, all of which can cause soft tissue damage to the front of the neck, as well as  cervical spine damage with extended use.

A canine head halter is similar to a horse halter.  The head halter fits on the back of the head, directly behind the ears and the noseband extends across the top of the muzzle, below the eyes.  The leash attaches to a ring below the dog's chin.

Regular collars go around the dog's neck and the owner then is pulling against the neck muscles, which are so incredibly strong, that a dog can drag his owner, despite wearing a choke collar.
The head halter design fits around the dog's head and muzzle, thus allowing the owner to control the dog's head (not the neck)

Instead of working against the incredibly strong neck muscles, the head halter works against the neck's oppositional muscles (which are weaker).  Gently use the leash to guide the position of the dog's head.  Wherever the head goes the dog's body MUST follow.
Thus if you have control of the dog's head,  you have control of the entire body.  This gives the trainer tremendous control over the dog while walking.   I call the head halter "power steering and power brakes".

The head halter is NOT A MUZZLE.  Your dog can hold a tennis ball in his mouth while wearing a Comfort Trainer head halter.

IMPORTANT:   ALWAYS remove the head halter when not training to prevent potential    injuries.
